Bio of a Champion A.K.A Miz

The Miz (AKA Mike Mizanin) is a former Fraternity boy with a sophomoric sense of humor and a huge ego - just the right ingredients to become reality TV celebrity and a WWE Champion.

The self-proclaimed “Awesome One” loves reality TV. After leaving his home state of Ohio he headed for Southern California in pursuit of fame. His TV debut was on MTV’s The Real World: Back to New York in 2001. Since then, The Miz has made the reality TV rounds. He’s been on four seasons of the Real World/Road Rules Challenge, The Inferno, The Gauntlet, Battle of the Network Reality Stars, Identity, Ghost Hunters, Dinner Impossible, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, and recently as a competitor on a special edition of Fear Factor.

Mizanin also competed on the fourth season of the WWE’s own version of reality TV, Tough Enough, in hopes of winning a $1,000,000 contract to become a WWE Superstar. Despite coming in last in the arm wrestling competition, he managed to beat-out six other wrestlers and finish as the runner-up. After the loss, The Miz became even more determined to gain a spot with the WWE. He continued to train and hone his pro wrestling moves once the Tough Enough competition ended.

Mizanin joined Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW), where he trained in the Ultimate University. He was eventually awarded a development contract with the WWE and was sent to wrestle with both Deep South Wrestling and Ohio Valley Wrestling. Eventually his hard work paid off and he as signed with the WWE. One of his first gigs was to host the annual WWE Diva Search competition in 2006, which was a dream come true for the frat boy.

Since then he has claimed the WWE Tag Team Championship (with John Morrison), defeating Montel Vontavious Porter & Matt Hardy. He has also gained a United States Championship and the Unified Tag Team Championship. But that was not enough for the cocky "Awesome One".

Miz won the Raw Money in the Bank Ladder Match in July 2010, earning a WWE Title opportunity at the time and place of his choosing. He was seldom seen without his red Money in the Bank briefcase for months following that pivotal victory, reminding whoever held the WWE Championship that it was only a matter of time before he would strike and take what he believed was rightfully his. The Miz took advantage of a vulnerable Randy Orton and cashed-in his WWE Title opportunity to take the most prestigious belt in pro wrestling. With a Skull-Crushing Finale, an age of "Awesomeness" as WWE Champion had begun. In July 2010, he won a Money in the Bank ladder match, earning a contract for a WWE Championship match, which he used in November to win the WWE Championship for the first time.
